The public blockchain ensures that credentials remain verifiable at any time without contacting the credential issuer. The Platform simplifies the creation of Verifiable Credentials, making cryptography or blockchain knowledge unnecessary.

A Verifiable Data Registry

The public blockchain is an immutable registry containing all credential issuers' Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs). When verifying a credential, a Verifier will look up the Issuer's DID to confirm if it was the Issuer who signed it. This process is fully automated and seamless when using the Platform.

What goes on-chain?

  • Issuers' Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and associated Public Keys

  • Credential Schemas

  • Revocation Registries

What does NOT go on-chain?

  • Personally identifiable information

  • Verifiable Credentials. Credentials are stored on the user's devices (e.g., their Wallets)

  • Permissionless and Proof-of-Work
