Issuing certificates through nChain Certify is a streamlined process designed to ensure the secure and verifiable recognition of achievements, qualifications, or memberships. This section guides you through each step of issuing certificates, from preparation to completion.
Below is an overview of the different states of a certificate.
Certificate States
To start creating a new certificate and issue it to your recipients, simply click on [“New” > ”Create a new certificate”] in the top-right corner.
Step 1 – Certificate details
The first step is to input certificate details, including the title of the certificate and the name of the issuer.
You will also be prompted to input the country and city this certificate was issued in.
Step 2 – Adding recipients
The second step is to input the recipients for this certificate.
You will need to input a .csv file in the following format: Name, email, role
You can download an example excel file that contains the structure that the system expects. There should not be a title column, otherwise the system will not accept the file as input.
Please note that roles will be removed in the next release for simplicity.
Step 3 – Certificate Design
In this step, you must choose the design of the certificate. There are two options:
Use Existing Template: If you have previously created certificate templates that fit your current needs, you can select one from your library.
Create New Template: If you need a new design or specific information on the certificate, follow the steps outlined in Section 3 to create a new certificate template.
Step 4 – Review and Issue
In this step, you will be able to review your certificate before it is issued. This is your chance to review the appearance of your certificate one last time before it is issued.
When you are ready, click on “Issue Certificates”.
You have successfully issued certificates for your recipients. The certificates are now securely logged on the blockchain (transactions on chain can take approximately 10 minutes to be processed). You can use a block explorer to verify the status of any issued certificate directly from the blockchain (see section 7).
Issuing certificates through nChain Certify not only simplifies the process of recognizing achievements but also ensures the security and verifiability of each certificate through blockchain technology. By carefully preparing for the issuance, choosing the appropriate template, and customizing the design to match your needs, you can efficiently issue digital certificates that recipients can proudly display and share. The following sections will guide you through managing these certificates post-issuance and optimizing the recipient experience.
