9. FAQs and Troubleshooting
Q1: Can I customize the design of a certificate after it has been issued?
No, once a certificate has been issued, its design cannot be altered. However, you can revoke the issued certificate and reissue a new one with the desired design changes. Remember, this action will be recorded on the blockchain for transparency and verification purposes.
Q2: How do recipients verify the authenticity of their certificates?
Recipients can verify the authenticity of their certificates using the unique verification code provided with each certificate. You can input this code in the verification tool (https://certificates.nchain.cloud) to retrieve the status of your certificate.
You can also verify the authenticity of your certificate by browsing a BSV block explorer (e.g. Whatsonchain) and searching by transaction ID.
Q3: What happens if a certificate needs to be revoked?
If a certificate needs to be revoked, administrators can do so directly from the nChain Certify dashboard. Revoked certificates are updated on the blockchain to reflect their new status, ensuring that any verification attempts will accurately show that the certificate is no longer valid.
Q4: Can certificates be issued to recipients without an email address?
Currently, nChain Certify requires an email address to send the digital certificate to recipients.
Q5: Is it possible to bulk upload recipients for certificate issuance?
Yes, nChain Certify supports the bulk upload of recipient information through a CSV file. This feature streamlines the process for issuing certificates to large groups, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in the distribution of certificates.
Q6: How long does it take for a certificate to be recorded on the blockchain?
A6: The recording time on the blockchain is dependent on the network’s block-time: the rate at which new blocks are mined on the blockchain. On average, the block-time on the BSV network is 10 minutes.
Q7: Can I integrate nChain Certify with other software or platforms?
nChain Certify does not yet offer API access for integrating with other systems or platforms. This is on top of our priority and we plan to add this capability in a future release.
This capability will allow for automation of certificate issuance, management, and verification processes, enhancing efficiency and scalability.
Q8: Are there any limitations on the number of certificates I can issue?
nChain Certify does not impose a limit on the number of certificates you can issue. However, depending on your subscription plan, there may be different pricing tiers or rates applicable based on volume. Review your plan details or contact support for more information.
Q9: How secure is certificate data on nChain Certify?
nChain Certify prioritizes the security of certificate data, employing encryption, secure data storage practices, and blockchain technology to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of all information. The use of blockchain also adds an extra layer of security through immutable record-keeping.
Q10: Where can I get additional help or support?
For additional support, users can access the nChain help center, which offers comprehensive guides, tutorials, and troubleshooting tips. Additionally, customer support can be reached via email or through the support portal on the nChain Certify website for more personalized assistance.
